SHUTTLES.
Just to let you all know
the approved shuttle for the Plastic's leagues is still the Yonex Mavis
300. At a recent Committee Meeting it was decided to open up the sale of
Yonex Mavis 300 Shuttles to the Badminton Clubs who like to meet and
play socially at the discounted rate which our league club's enjoy. If
there are any Badminton clubs in Sheffield who fall in to this category then
contact our Treasurer Gavin Johns for further details. Please see below

Oakbrook Badminton
Club.
Oakbrook Badminton Club
are currently looking for new Members. If you are interested in joining

contacts page. Oakbrook
were originally called The YMCA Badminton Club, one of the the founder
members of the S & D Badminton Association (now Badminton
Sheffield) and as such are one of the oldest clubs in the league.
Wisewood Badminton
Club.
Wisewood Badminton Club
are currently looking for new Members. If you are interested in joining

Phoenix Badminton
Club.
Phoenix Badminton Club are
currently looking for new Members of a reasonable standard for teams
in the league.If you are interested come along Tuesdays or Fridays.

Did you
know that the Sheffield and District Badminton Association was formed on
September 3rd 1935 and was initially called the Sheffield and District league? There was a
break till 1945 caused by the war and the league re-formed in 1949. It finally became the
Sheffield and District Badminton Association in 1973. The original league was formed by
the following clubs:- St Augustine's, Hayfields, Nether Church, St
Polycarp, Swinton and Y.M.C.A (now called Oakbrook).
There were also another 28 people present at this meeting but no other club names
have been recorded apart from the above mentioned. Thought not! |
